Penn goes online with job info for Dayton racetrack

Dayton area residents interested in employment at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway can now register online, submit a resume and receive e-mail notification when jobs are posted for the video lottery terminal and harness racing facility under construction at 4701 Wagner Ford Road in North Dayton.

Registration information is available at www.hollywooddaytonraceway.com/Careers, Bob Tenenbaum, spokesman for Penn National said.

Potential employees will be given the option of uploading a resume, and can choose to sign in by registering on the website or by using their Facebook, Google+ or LinkedIn account.

Registration ensures that potential employees will be notified by e-mail when job postings for the new facility begin by early 2014. Penn National, developer of the racino, will also conduct job fairs in the community once the hiring process begins.

Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway will be seeking employees in a wide variety of job categories, including VLT operations, food and beverage, housekeeping, maintenance and facilities, parking, wardrobe, security and surveillance, and racing operations, as well as in administrative positions, Tenenbaum said.

The racino is expected to generate about 1,000 construction jobs and 1,000 jobs at the facility or related businesses. The website only provides access to the jobs at the facility, which is expected to open in the summer of 2014.

Penn will invest $250 million in the racino, including $125 million for the facility; $75 million to transfer its racing license from Toledo to Dayton; and $50 million for a video lottery operator license. Legislation approved in 2012 will provide the city of Dayton with $1 million in local impact funds in each of the facility’s first two years of operation.
