The gavel was passed to Ryan King, Hemm’s Glass Shop who was introduced as the 2010 Chairman of the Board.
The evening concluded with the presentation of several awards.
Unity National Bank was awarded the Commercial Beautification Award for the new parking lot project that significantly enhances the gateway to downtown Piqua.
The Chamber Achievement Award was presented to the Salvation Army Senior Group for their volunteer efforts in assembling the monthly chamber newsletter.
John A. Brown, president of Unity National Bank was bestowed the Business Person of the Year award. Nominated by his employees, Brown was recognized for his commitment to the Piqua community and his customer service values instilled upon every employee.
The evening concluded with the announcement of the prestigious Order of George award. This award is bestowed upon an individual who exemplifies the best in volunteer and community service.
For the first time this year — the award was given to a George posthumously. C. Richard Sword was selected for this year and honored for his service to the Piqua Rotary Club, the Miami County YMCA, the Piqua Area United Way, the city of Piqua Planning Committee, Main Street Piqua, Greene St. Church, Piqua Arts Council, Music Warehouse, and the Piqua Education Foundation.
Sword died in August of 2009. His daughters Sandie Cox and Joanna Marrs accepted the award.
