Someone on social media is making claims about being sick and purposely trying to spread germs around local shopping areas.

Piqua Deputy Chief Jason Preston said the police department is aware of those claims made in a March 13 Facebook post by someone who identified himself as Ethan Summers.

In the post, he said he has been coughing with a fever. However, police have not received any reports of anyone seen doing this, according to a release.

The police release did not say the person was claiming to have the coronavirus, but a cough and fever are known to be common symptoms associated with COVID-19.

The department  is asking for the public’s help to identify the person who made the post.

Anyone with information is urged to call Piqua police at 937-778-2027 or 927-615-TIPS(8477).
