Plane crashes at Greene County Airport

No one was hurt when a small plane crashed today at the Greene County Airport.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. as a single-engine plane was making a planned landing.

Officials said the plane's landing gear malfunctioned, causing the plane to crash nose-down in a grassy area near the runway.

Lt. Bryon Betsinger with the Beavercreek Twp. Fire Department said the plane's front nose landing gear appears to have deployed. "We believe the front wheel was not angled properly and caused the pilot to lose control," he said.

One pilot and one passenger got out of the plane unharmed. The plane reportedly departed from Alabama.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will maintain the scene until the Federal Aviation Administration arrives and completes their investigation.
