Plumber causes Washington Twp. apt. fire

A plumber soldering pipes in a bathroom is being blamed for a fire that caused an estimated $10,000 damage to two apartments.

Washington Twp. fire crews dispatched to 128 Maple Ave. at 12:14 p.m., on an investigation of a structure fire, discovered that insulation inside the walls of the first-floor apartment was burning, Deputy Chief Jim Neidhard said.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and damage was limited to two apartments, Neidhard said.

No one was injured. The cause is being listed as accidental -- the plumber who was soldering pipes in a bathroom.
