The woman, 30, who has not been identified, was being treated at Atrium Medical Center, for undetermined injuries apparently not caused by a gunshot, McCutchan said.
The 911 call came from a neighbor who found the woman’s six young children in the front yard, McCutchan said.
“They said that their mom had been shot,” he said.
The woman was found in the garage, reportedly with self-inflicted injuries. It was unclear how serious the injuries were, McCutchan added.
No schools were locked down, but police worked with school officials to ensure buses could get to school while avoiding the area cordoned off early today as police entered the home on Lawndale Drive, McCutchan said.

Multiple officers and deputies have responded to reports of a woman assaulted at a home in Lebanon Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the first block of Lawndale Avenue around 8 a.m. on initial reports of a woman who was injured inside the home.
Initial reports indicate the woman was found down in a room of the home, suffering from a head injury.
Reports indicate multiple children were inside the home when the incident happened, according to police scanner traffic.
The condition of the victim was not immediately known.
