Dayton City Commission approved a police department request to purchase 16 mountain bikes at a total cost of $20,000, for the department’s bike patrol unit.
Police officials said they chose out-of-state provider Volcanic Manufacturing over two Kettering companies because the Volcanic bikes had better frames, brakes and wheels.
All three bidders’ per-bike cost was between $1,150 and $1,250. JEREMY P. KELLEY
