Police: Drugs found during Tipp City traffic stop

Police in Tipp City said they arrested two people from Kentucky were caught with drugs during a routine traffic stop late Wednesday night.

The two were stopped around midnight in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 near Tipp City for speeding, police said.

The driver, Danielle Turner, 20, of Kentucky was charged with two counts of drug trafficking and for permitting drug abuse.

The passenger, Melvin Coffey, 18, of Kentucky, was charged with two counts of drug trafficking and one count of possession of dangerous drugs.

Police said Turner agreed to a search by Tipp City police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. During the search, authorities said they found 518 capsules of Xanax.

Turner and Coffey are being held in the Miami County Jail on $30,000 bonds each.

Police said the two were traveling from Michigan to Kentucky when they were stopped.
