UPDATE @ 10:10 a.m. (May 31):

Dayton police said a man arrested after a pursuit north of Cincinnati was arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of Donald E. Armstrong III on Maryland Avenue in Dayton.

Joshua Beall. 29, of Fairborn was arrested after the pursuit in Sharonville, police said. Dayton investigators said Beall was a suspect in the shooting on Maryland Avenue Tuesday.

A second person, Casey Cole, 19, of Seamon, Ohio was also arrested after the Sharonville police pursuit. However, Dayton police did not provide further details if she was involved in the shooting.

UPDATE @ 11:45 p.m. (May 30):

Donald E. Armstrong III, 26, of Cincinnati, is the person who was shot to death in a Maryland Avenue apartment, according to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning.

Dayton police have made no further comment about a possible suspect or about the male and female who were at the apartment at the time of the shooting. They were detained as persons of interest, police said.

UPDATE @ 7:10 p.m.:

A male in his 20s has been shot to death and police have detained a male and a female who were in an apartment at 440 Maryland Avenue where the shooting occurred, Dayton police Lt. Andrew Gillig said.

The male, believed to be in his 20s, was shot at least once and police believe he knew the suspect.

Police have detained the male and female in an effort to discover their relationship with the victim.

Investigators are working to determine why the shooting occurred.

The victim was dead when police arrived, Lt. Gillig said.

INITIAL REPORT

Police and a medic unit are investigating a shooting on Maryland Avenue, near Ray Street, in Dayton.

The incident was dispatched just after 6:30 p.m.
