Man indicted in case of man found dead in Dayton backyard

UPDATE @ 2:56 p.m. (Oct. 2):

Jeremy Harris has been indicted by a grand jury on five counts murder; two counts each of felonious assault, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence; and a single count of weapons under disability. H
e will be arraigned Oct. 5 and remains in jail.

UPDATE @ 8:59 a.m. (Sept. 22):

An arrest has been made in the shooting death of Antonio Perkins, 41, of Dayton, who was found dead in the backyard of a home on Five Oaks Avenue Thursday.

Jeremy Harris, 26, has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a preliminary charge of murder and assault, according to jail records.

Perkins was shot in the head and neck and his death has been ruled a homicide, coroner’s office officials said.

UPDATE @ 4:02 p.m. (Sept. 21):

A man found dead from an apparent homicide in Dayton has been identified as Antonio L. Perkins, 41, of Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

A cause and manner of death has not yet been determined.

UPDATE @ 1:05 p.m. 

A man found dead behind a house on 5 Oaks Avenue in Dayton is believed to be the victim of a homicide that occurred sometime overnight, according to Dayton police.

Officers were first dispatched to the first block of 5 Oaks Avenue around 10:40 a.m. Thursday on initial reports of a person down. Dayton police Sgt. Jeffery Spires said when they arrived on scene police found an man deceased from an apparent homicide.

Spires would not say if the man was shot, but it ‘appears there was some violence involved.’ Initial reports indicate the victim was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Investigators also believe the incident that led to the man’s death occurred sometime around midnight Thursday.

The identity of the victim was not yet available.

Spires said there was no signs of drugs or illegal activity when the found the deceased man.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office confirms they’ve been requested to the scene on 5 Oaks Avenue in Dayton.

Initial reports indicate a person was found in a yard suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police and medics have been dispatched on reports of a person shot on 5 Oaks Avenue in Dayton Thursday.

Emergency units were first dispatched to the first block of 5 Oaks Avenue around 10:40 a.m. on initial reports of a person suffering an unknown problem behind a home. The report was later updated to a report of a person shot.
