A car crash into a utility pole this morning has left 600 homes without power and a section of Mad River Road closed until the damage can be repaired.

Kettering Police Sgt. Andrew DiSalvo said a vehicle was traveling north on Mad River Road when the driver lost control and struck a utility pole, knocking down power lines.

Officials on the scene reported that this would likely be closed until mid-morning as repair crews turn the power off and replace the pole.

DiSalvo said that in cases where a car strikes a pole and knocks down power lines, officers tell people and drivers to stay back as much as they can due to the danger from possibly active power lines and the pole hanging down.

The driver will be cited for failure to control, DiSalvo said.
