The cause and manner of death have not been determined.

Police were dispatched around 10:15 a.m. to the Save Food Super Market at 1829 Germantown Street on reports of a person shot multiple times.

The victim, later identified as Brown, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, Dayton Police Sgt. Creigee S. Coleman said.

He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital but later died from his injuries, Coleman said.

This shooting comes only hours after another shooting at Rick’s Jazz Club, which is located just feet behind the supermarket.

Around 3 a.m., two men were shot at the jazz club. Brandon Harris, 34, of Dayton was identified by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger as the man who died in that overnight shooting.

A second man, who was not identified by name, suffered life-threatening injuries.

Both shootings appear to have been random incidents involving people engaged in arguments, Coleman said.

He said it was too soon to determine if the shootings were related and that portion of the investigation would be determined by homicide detectives.

Coleman urged anyone who witnessed the shootings or has information to help investigators to call Dayton police or submit an anonymous tip.

“We need to come together. People need to understand this gun violence needs to stop,” he said.

Tips can be sent anonymously to police at 937-333-2677 or the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center at 937-225-4357. Tips can also be sent to Miami Valley Crime Stoppers online or at 937-222-7867.
