A man remains in the hospital and his teen roommate is in jail accused of hitting him intentionally with a pickup truck Sunday on an off-road trail in the 5700 block of Rip Rap Road.

Jacob Williams, 18, is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of felonious assault.

The 27-year-old victim is listed in fair condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

The victim was with a group of people trying to move a vehicle that was stuck in the mud when Williams showed up to help driving a Chevy Silverado, according to the Dayton police report.

Williams was told his help wasn’t needed and witnesses told police he then spun his tires, struck the victim and ran him over before speeding away, according to the report.

The suspect told police he fled the scene because he feared the victim had a handgun and would shoot him, according to the report.

Police said the victim reported he let the suspect live with him in Dayton but they have had multiple arguments and the suspect has tried to strike him before with a vehicle.
