Power out in parts of Fairfield city, township

FAIRFIELD TWP. — A city of Hamilton power line fell onto a Duke Energy power line causing power to be out for more than 5,100 Duke customers, said a spokeswoman for the utility.

Duke Energy spokeswoman Pat Hoffmann said it will take about a half hour to repair the down line, which affects three substations.

The power is affecting residents in parts of Hamilton, Fairfield and Fairfield Twp.

Fairfield Twp. police Chief Richard St. John said any buildings affected are on backup generator power.

The outage has significantly affected traffic on Bypass Ohio 4 at Hamilton-Mason Road. A motorist reported traffic is backed up for about a mile.

Hoffmann said two crews are on scene and power should be up in about a half hour.
