Preble power outages blamed on equipment failure

UPDATE @ 8:05 p.m.: Equipment failure is being blamed for the power outage in Preble County that at its peak affected 1,585 Dayton Power & Light customers Monday afternoon, an official with the company said.

Reported outages dropped close to zero by 8 p.m., the utility’s online outage map showed.

Meantime, crews were being sent to the South Charleston area of Clark County as 190 DP&L customers were without power, according to the utility’s online outage page.

UPDATE @ 6:55 p.m.: Dayton Power & Light crews are on scene, trying to pinpoint the problem that led to a power outage for more than 1,500 in Preble County.

We’re told that most of the outages are in the area of West Alexandria — some are reported in Eaton, as well — and reports of outages began being called in before 5 p.m.

At 6:53 p.m., the number of outages in the county is 349, according to the DP&L online outage page.

More than 1,500 Dayton Power & Light customers are without power this afternoon and crews are en route to track down what’s causing the outages.

At 4:51 p.m., the DP&L outage showed 1,585 outages in the county.
