Will your local school district dismiss early today due to heat?

Some school districts will be releasing students early again today, and one school will be closed as record heat continues.

The Summit Academy Community School in Dayton will be closed due to the heat.

Greenon Local Schools, Preble-Shawnee Local Schools, Sidney City Schools, Southeastern Local Schools, Troy City Schools and Valley View Local Schools all will dismiss two hours early due to the high temperatures in the forecast.

Fairborn City School also will release students two hours early from its buildings, except for the high school.

Tipp City Schools will release students two hours early at Nevin Coppock and Broadway elementary schools only.

Also, St. Patrick’s School in Troy will release students early, at 1:15 p.m.

Temperatures will climb into the 90s with heat index values in the lower 90s, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs said.

Fall temperatures are expected to return for Friday, which will be cooler and breezy with highs in the upper 60s, Vrydaghs said.
