Pursuit suspect captured after trying to swim across Great Miami River

A 41-year-old man suffered serious injuries after crashing during a high-speed pursuit that ended with the man trying to swim across the Great Miami River near Ohio route 708, according to Washington Twp. police.

The pursuit started after Gabriel Lensman, 41, of Russells Point, allegedly nearly hit a police cruiser. Lensman reportedly fled at speeds in excess of 100 mph, before crashing around 9 p.m.

Lensman attempted to swim across the Great Miami River, but was unsuccessful and ended up being captured.

Lensman was flown to St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima for treatment of his injuries.

The 41-year-old is facing failure to comply, resisting arrest, OVI, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and several other traffic related charges, police said.
