NEW DETAILS: Driver in Greene Co. pursuit with speeds up to 130 mph nearly hit police officer

UPDATE @ 5:50 a.m: A man arrested on charges connected to pursuit that ended as a crash on U.S. 35 early Friday morning has been identified.

Keshawn Rivers, 38, of Dayton is currently in police custody on multiple charges including OVI, felony fleeting, and eluding after the vehicle he was driving reached speeds up to 130 mph, according to state troopers.

Beavercreek police initially attempted to question Rivers about possible drug activity in the parking lot of W.O. Wright’s Pub & Grille. He fled, nearly hitting several people in the lot including a Beavercreek police officer.

The vehicle he was driving was spotted on Col. Glenn Highway by Beavercreek police, which started the pursuit.

During the pursuit, the vehicle sped past an OSP state trooper on southbound 675 at the Montgomery County/Greene County border, prompting them to assist. The car crashed on eastbound U.S. 35 at James H. McGee Boulevard, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Rivers is currently at Fairborn Jail with additional charges including failure to comply, obstructing official business, and several traffic offenses for the events that occurred this morning.

UPDATE @ 2:50 a.m: 1 person is in police custody after a pursuit with speeds up to 130 mph ended as a crash on U.S. 35, according to officials.

The pursuit, which started in Greene County just before 2 a.m., continued onto westbound U.S. 35 at southbound 675 and ended on eastbound U.S. 35 at James H. McGee Boulevard in a crash.

The suspect was not injured in the crash, officials said.

The Ohio Highway State Patrol, Xenia Post, are handling the incident.

INITIAL REPORT

A pursuit that reached speeds of 130 mph ended in a crash on eastbound U.S. 35 early Friday morning.

The pursuit started on westbound U.S. 35 at southbound 675 around 2:04 a.m. with speeds of around 80 mph, according to initial reports. The car continued down U.S. 35, reaching speeds of 130 when it approached James H. McGee Boulevard.

Around 2:10 a.m., the pursuit reportedly ended in a crash on eastbound U.S. 35 at James H. McGee Boulevard.

It’s unknown if anyone was injured.
