CARLISLE — This weekend’s Railroad Days attraction doesn’t offer much in the way of trains, but it does offer plenty of other entertainment.
The festival runs from 4 to 11 p.m. today, Aug. 20, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, in downtown Carlisle. This year’s festival has someone new at the helm — Fire Chief Lisa Wyatt.
She’s worked on other festivals before in other towns, but has rarely seen people be so into a festival as they are here.
“This is the event of the year in Carlisle,” she said.
That “event” opens at 4:30 p.m. today, followed by singer and Carlisle High School student Jami Abney at 5:30 p.m., the gymnastics group GTCO at 7 p.m. and the local band Phat Like Dad will perform at 9 p.m.
Saturday brings a parade at 10 a.m. featuring the Carlisle High School marching band and cheerleaders. The parade begins at Roscoe Roof Park and goes to the Carlisle Local Schools. There will also be a performance by Miss Bridgette’s Dance Studio & Theatre Company.
Saturday’s bands include the bluegrass band Sound Gap at 5 p.m., the country group Freeway at 6:30 p.m. and the classic rock band Reverse Polarity at 8 p.m.
