Report: Man tries to lure Dayton girl walking to school into car

Dayton police are investigating an incident where a man reportedly tried to lure a 13-year-old girl into his car.

The girl was walking to Ruskin Elementary School Wednesday afternoon to pick up her younger brother when the man approached her, according to the police report.

She was walking on McClure Street when a black man in a car passed her, before turning around and pulling up to her, read the report.

The girl reportedly told police that the man asked where Xenia Avenue was and if she’d get in the car and show him.

When she told the man no and that she had to get her sibling, the man started to get out of the car, according to the report.

The girl ran to the elementary school with the man following her in the car.

She reportedly saw him turn on Angel Court and then George Street when she went inside the school.

The girl told police that the man had a deep voice and was wearing a black beanie that looked like it was too small for him, according to the report.

The car was reportedly light gray and had four doors.

Police searched the area for the car and man, but did not find anything.
