Sgt. Jason Cadle, with the OSHP Xenia post, said a small Kia SUV was sent crashing and rolling off the right side of the highway when it was struck by another vehicle that did not stop.

The Sportage rolled side over side and end to end at least three rotations before coming to a stop, Cadle said.

One of the victims, a child about 3-and-a-half years old, was in a child seat and suffered only minor injuries. The two adults, who suffered non-life threatening injuries as well, were wearing seatbelts.

The family is believed to be from Xenia, the sergeant said.

Meantime, the state patrol is looking for the other vehicle, which should have heavy damage from the collision.

It is believed to be a newer, white four-door sedan that continued along U.S. 35 West, according to witnesses, the sergeant said. Those witnesses also said the driver appeared to be lost and passed the accident scene at least once before disappearing into the night.

Cadle said it’s against the law not to stop when you are involved in a traffic accident.
