Police: Victim in vehicle on W. Second Street in Dayton was shot elsewhere

UPDATE @ 5:25 p.m.: The victim, a 32-year-old male, was shot multiple times in the area of Elmhurst Road and Hoover Avenue, then drove to West Second Street, Dayton police Lt. Steven Bauer said.

The victim is said to be in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital and homicide detectives have been dispatched to the scene and to the hospital.

Neighbors on West Second Street found the man in the car and called 9-1-1, Bauer said.

UPDATE @ 5:05 p.m.:

The victim has told police he was shot at another location and drove to a relative's home in the 1500 block of West Second Street, where he was found in a car suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

He has been taken to a hospital. His condition is not known.

The victim told police he was in the vehicle alone, according to a dispatch sergeant.

The car remains in the middle of West Second Street, in the 1500 block, and Dayton police evidence technicians are dusting it for fingerprints.

West Second remains shut down between North Euclid Avenue and North Paul Laurence Dunbar Street until further notice.

Police and medics have responded to reports of a person shot on West Second Street in Dayton Tuesday.

Emergency crews responded to the 1500 block after a person in a vehicle was found with a gunshot wound, according to initial reports.

The condition of the victim was not immediately known.
