Busch, who retired in late 2014, taught choir to all levels during her tenure, including the show choirs and the high school’s a cappella choir.
“I am looking forward to reminiscing with my former students from 1980 through 2014. It will be wonderful to hear what they are currently doing, how they are still involved with music and how their families are doing,” Busch said.
“I know that there will be some speakers that will share some special moments from their high school days,” Busch said. “I am really looking forward to hearing them speak.”
One speakers will likely be Cherie (Carnes) Rebar, a member of the BHS class of 1985. Rebar said, “She has taught decades of students, myself included, about life and love, commitment to ourselves and others and how to strive for perfection while settling for excellence, all within the scope and setting of choral music.”
About 250 former students have made reservations to attend the 2-6 p.m. event at Coy Middle School in Beavercreek.
The official registration period has passed, but Rebar said anyone still wanting to attend, for $15 per person, can email her at cherie.rebar@gmail.com.
Busch’s support extends beyond graduation.
Jeff Tatem, BHS class of 1985, said, “Mrs. Busch remains one of our biggest cheerleaders throughout life. She celebrates our successes and is always there for us during our times of heartache.”
“There were some students, such as myself, who could be a bit challenging at times to have in her choirs,” he said. “However Mrs. Busch never entertained the thought of abandoning such kids and, on the contrary, probably pushed us the hardest.”
Scott Chevalier transferred to Beavercreek High School in his junior year. He said, “She completely accepted me into her programs with open arms and gave me every opportunity to succeed … . She knew I was struggling to find my place, and she was very instrumental in creating opportunities for me to engage with new friendships and go deeper at a new place.”
Suzy (Biddle) Meek, class of 1986, remembers how Busch “gave me the confidence to do whatever I wanted to do in life, to never settle for mediocrity and be the best you can be.”
