Identity theft a major problem 

Scammers continue to try to trick people into giving out information that the scam artists then use to steal identities to commit all kinds of fraud that can cost consumers loads of money.

In the last year one-quarter of Ohioans aged 18 or older have had their personal information exposed to identity theft and fraud, according to Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine. Fraudsters take an estimated $3 billion from elderly victims every year.

Dayton Daily News investigations last year found that the elderly are frequently the target of scammers and that medical ID theft is on the rise.
