The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a scam call from someone claiming to be a sheriff’s office lieutenant and claiming the potential victim missed jury duty.

The caller says that an arrest warrant has been issued and that the warrant can be recalled if money is sent.

“This scam has been around the past several years and seems to return around the holidays,” said a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office.

The warning was posted after the sheriff’s office received multiple calls from people who received a scam call or message.

“Law enforcement agencies do not solicit money for any purpose,” the post said. “If a call like this is received simply hang up.”

If you keep receiving calls, the sheriff’s office advised calling your local law enforcement agency.
