Sheriff: Man kidnaps, threatens to kill ex-girlfriend

A woman escaped from a wooded area after her ex-boyfriend assaulted her and threatened to kill her, Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson said in a release.

Deputies responded around 5:30 p.m. to the 1700 block of Miller Williams Road in Washington Twp. in Preble County.

The woman said her ex-boyfriend physically assaulted her at his residence, then he forced her onto an ATV and took her into a wooded area near the house. There, he held her at gunpoint, threatened to kill her and would not let her leave, the release stated.

Deputies entered the home and found the suspect — identified as 37-year-old Justin M. Lehr — in a bedroom on the second floor.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Lehr has been charged in Eaton Municipal Court with kidnapping and abduction, both felonies, and misdemeanor charges of violating a protection order and domestic violence.

Deputies also recovered several firearms inside the residence.

Lehr remains in the Preble County Jail.
