The sheriff’s office was notified at 2:20 a.m. about the shooting after the two men, ages 38 and 22, showed up at the Miami Valley Hospital emergency room with gunshot wounds, Landis said.
Landis said the deputies located the crime scene in the bar parking lot. According to Landis, the two victims had left the club and were in their car when a man opened fire, striking the driver once in the lower body and the passenger multiple times in the lower body.
The driver was able to drive to Miami Valley. Meanwhile, the shooter jumped into the passenger seat of a silver or grey Chevy HHR or Chrysler PT Cruiser type vehicle, heading toward Dayton on Germantown Pike, witnesses told deputies.
Landis said the 22-year-old victim, who was shot multiple times, was out of surgery Thursday morning and was expected to survive, though still listed in critical condition. The 38-year-old driver was reported as stable, Landis said.
Deputies had no motive for the shootings. The chief deputy said there was no altercation or words exchanged involving the victims. Deputies are hoping to speak with one of the three security men at the bar.
Landis said the bar once had been the scene of several shootings and stabbings over the years, but had been violence-free until recently.
Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the sheriff’s office at 225-4357.
