The five-year, one percent income tax was put into effect by a 6-1 vote of council on Dec. 21. Council said the tax was necessary to help the village emerge from fiscal emergency, which it has been in since 2008. The tax was originally shot down by voters in a November election.
Marshall, who serves as a state appointed representative on the village financial recovery board, will attend the meeting to answer questions residents may have about the tax and the village’s financial emergency status, but said he is not on hand to speak in favor of or against the income tax.
