Thunderstorms and high winds Tuesday night knocked out power to several areas in Clark and Greene counties.
According to Ohio Edison online outage maps, more than 1,500 customers in the area of South Vienna lost electric service during the fast moving storms, while in South Charleston, an estimated 500 to 1,500 were left in the dark for a time. Facebook users also reported power outages in Bowersville and London as well.
There were very few outages still being reported at 11:30 p.m.
The weather system that packed heavy rain, high winds and some small hail developed along the Ohio/Indiana line, touching off thunderstorm warnings for Butler, Clark, Clinton, Fayette, Greene, Madison and Warren counties. Pea sized hail was reported in Yellow Springs.
Gusts of 60 mph were reported in Clinton and Greene counties, while wind speeds reached 56 mph and 55 mph in Wilmington and Jamestown, Simpson said.
Wednesday will start with some sun before the chance for showers returns by noon. Scattered showers will be possible through late Wednesday afternoon, and there could be some small hail and some thunder, Simpson said. Showers will diminish into the evening with more breaks in clouds overnight. Highs will be in the upper 60s.
Thursday morning brings sun with lows in the 40s. A few showers are possible in the afternoon. Highs should hit around 60.Friday shows a similar forecast to Thursday, with sun in the morning followed by possible afternoon showers. Showers are expected to be more mild than Thursday.
Saturday provides some light showers but mostly dry through the day. Clouds will appear with highs near 60.Except a dry Sunday as a mix of sun and clouds head our way with highs in the mid 60.
