It’s that time of year again: Registration for the fourth annual Superhero Donut Run is open now.
The run will take place on Saturday, April 14, at Centerville High School and will feature a 5k, a 10k, and a children’s fun run (sponsored by Primrose Schools). Early registration, which includes a free run T-shirt, is available until March 25. Early registration costs are $15 for the fun run, $30 for the 5k, and $40 for the 10k. Participants who register after March 25 will not have the opportunity to receive a run shirt and will pay a $5 increase in fees for the 5k and 10k. Participants can also register the day of the race (April 14) beginning at 7 a.m. No run T-shirt is included and participants will pay a $10 increase in fees for each of the runs.
The Superhero Donut Run kicks off on a track inside the Centerville High School stadium. The children’s one-mile fun run begins at 9 a.m., while the 5k and 10k runs begin at 9:20 a.m. and continue outside of the stadium into a nearby Centerville neighborhood. First place finishers in each category (male, female, and under 18) will be awarded one-dozen donuts each week for a year, while second place finishers will received a half-dozen dozen donuts each week for a year. Furthermore, all participants will be able to enjoy donuts at the end of the race. These delicious prizes will all be courtesy of Bill’s Donuts.
The Superhero Donut Run, first held in 2015 in the parking lot of Bill’s Donuts, has received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community, and participation continues to grow each year. While registration for the 2015 run was capped at 550 participants, the 2016 Superhero Donut Run attracted over 1,200 costumed heroes and was moved to Centerville High School to accommodate them. As last year’s run was cancelled due to inclement weather, this year ASW wishes to re-spark interest in the event and hopes to see participation similar to 2016.
Run bib and T-shirt pickup will take place on Thursday, April 12, from noon to 7 p.m. at Runner's Plus (8970 Kingsridge Drive, Miami Twp). To register or learn more about the Superhero Donut Run, visit www.superherodonutrun.org or call 937-223-WISH (9674).
