911 caller: Woman’s body found behind Dayton home was decomposed

UPDATE @ 4:23 p.m. (Sept. 26):

A man called 911 Monday after he found the body of Krystal Garcia, 30, of Dayton, while he was taking out his trash and preparing to take his dog for a walk on West Hudson Avenue.

The caller told police the woman’s body was decomposed, according to records obtained by this newsroom.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office had not yet ruled on Garcia’s cause and manner of death late Tuesday afternoon.

The woman found dead has been identified as Krystal L. Garcia, 30, of Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. Her autopsy is happening today.

EARLIER REPORT

Police are investigating a suspicious death on West Hudson Avenue.

Homicide detectives were on the scene of the death around 4 p.m. Monday in the first block of West Hudson, police said.

The body recovered from a yard behind a home is that of a woman, Dayton Sgt. Creigee Coleman said.

Dayton homicide investigators were focused on an area at a garage, near an alley.

Earlier this month, the body of Deanna Prendergast, 39, of Kettering, was found behind a vacant home at 17 E. Hudson.

Police have not said if the cases are related.
