SWAT team called to Miamisburg home

A Miamisburg home was surrounded by authorities for several hours on Monday morning after police received word a man inside was making vague threats to harm himself and other people.

Police were made aware of the situation in a Mound Avenue home shortly after 3 a.m., said Miamisburg police Capt. Tom Thompson. The regional SWAT team was requested to the scene and peacefully concluded around 8 a.m. when the man was found passed out on the floor.

Thompson said Monday afternoon that mental health concerns prompted the response. No charges have been filed and no one was injured in the process.

The man was taken to a local hospital for a psychological evaluation.

“He was making comments about harming himself or others,” Thompson said. “Based on some different things he was saying we decided it would be safest with everyone involved if we involved the regional SWAT team.”

Members of the SWAT team were able to see the man passed out in the house and did not need to force into the home.

A person the man lived with made the call initial call to authorities.

“Everything ended well,” Thompson said.
