Teen killed in crash ‘will be remembered for his smile, laugh and kindness,’ school says

A 17-year-old killed in a crash on South Medway-Carlisle Road Sunday evening volunteered for an animal rescue group in New Carlisle and was known for his kindness.

Jason M. Whitt, of New Carlisle, died when a 2002 Saturn SL that he was driving went left of center before going off the side of the road and hitting a utility pole.

Whitt and a passenger were thrown from the car. Two other teens were also in the car when it crashed.

Johnathon Whitt, 15, is in critical condition; Michael Bitner, 17, is in good condition; and Jayden Stacy, 16, was transported with serious injuries, but is no longer a patient at Miami Valley Hospital, said a hospital representative.

Jason Whitt was a Fairborn Digital Academy student who volunteered with his brother at Paswisitve Warriors Rescue of New Carlisle.

Fairborn Digital Academy said that it will have a room open for students who are processing Jason Whitt’s death.

“Fairborn Digital Academy staff and students are grieving along with the family of our lost student,” read a statement from the school. “Jason is being remembered for his smile, laugh and kindness toward others.”
