2 teens hurt after car strikes utility pole in Darke County

A car crashed into a utility pole today, sending two teenagers to area hospitals.

According to preliminary investigation, Hayley L. Burns, 19, of Greenville was the driver of a gold 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass headed west on state Route 722. Just before 4 p.m. in the 2900 block of Ohio 722, Burns went off the right sight of the roadway, back onto the roadway, overcorrected and then went back off the right side of the road, striking a police, the Darke County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Burns’ front seat passenger, 16-year-old Thor Abelquist of West Manchester, was taken to Wayne Healthcare for treatment of possible injuries. Backseat passenger, 18-year-old Tre’Lyn Enis of Greenville, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital for her injuries.

All three were wearing their seat belts, deputies said.

The crash remains under investigation.
