"Clouds arrive late in the afternoon," Simpson said, but showers will hold off until evening.
"Toward midnight the opportunity for thunder and lightning increases as well as the chance for some heavier rain," he said.
Storms are not expected to be severe, but may wake people as they sleep.
On Friday, it will be mostly cloudy with showers, most likely ending in the morning Friday. Sunnier skies will return in the afternoon. Temperatures will start near 50 degrees and reach highs ranging from the upper 50s to lower 60s.
Saturday will be dry (in fact the only one of the following five days), Simpson said.
"We'll see a mix of sun and clouds with morning temperatures in the mid 40s and afternoon highs in the mid to upper 60s," he said.
There may be a morning shower on Sunday, as a warm front lifts north across the area early in the day.
"After that we should see clouds and some sun into the afternoon," Simpson said.
It will be a bit breezy Sunday, but winds will not be as strong as Monday. Temperatures will rise from the lower 50s to about 70 in the afternoon, making it the warmest day of the next five. More showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms arrive Sunday evening.
We'll see a wet start to the workweek Monday, with rain at times throughout the day. Temperatures will start in the mid 50s, rise to about 60, then fall back through the 50s in the afternoon as a cold front moves through.
"Although dry next Tuesday, we may see temperatures near freezing to start and never get out of the 40s in the afternoon," Simpson said.
