THE BIG REVEAL: Rolling Indulgence to unveil its new food truck at Warped Wing event

Carvers chef created concept for the Food Network’s “Great Food Truck Race”

Rolling Indulgence — the food-truck concept created earlier this year by three Carvers Steaks & Chops employees specifically for the Food Network show “The Great Food Truck Race” — will unveil its new food truck at a special ticketed event on Monday, Oct. 7 at Warped Wing Brewing Company in downtown Dayton.

The Warped Wing event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 7 at the brewery at 26 Wyandot St. The brewery and food truck are joining for “a night full of thirst-quenching brews, mouth-watering food, the new Rolling Indulgence Food Truck reveal, and live music,” Warped Wing says on the brewery’s Facebook events page.

Tickets are $25 and are available for purchase at Warped Wing (cash only) and online at www.eventbrite.com. Included with the ticket purchase is a Rolling Indulgence burger served with chips and beer of choice. Rolling Indulgence will also be offering what it describes as hand-spun crafted milkshakes for $10 each.

The featured burgers for the evening include “The Indulgent Burger,” Warped Wing's bison/bacon burger with butter & mozzarella cheese, topped with peppered lettuce, tomato bacon chutney, thin sliced pork belly, garlic mayo, and steakhouse aioli, served on a pretzel bun; and the Chicken Cordon Bleu Burger, described as a Parmesan and pepperjack cheese-butter burger topped with a thinly sliced deep fried chicken thigh, topped with garlic and roasted red pepper cheese sauce, and green-leaf lettuce served on a buttered brioche bun.

Drew Ballard, chef at Carvers Steak & Chops, and his two “Rolling Indulgence” teammates — his fiancee, Jess Sarra, and his roommate, Travis Day, both of whom also work for Carvers — were chosen to participate in Season 10 of Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race,” which invited teams that had never operated a food truck before to apply to be contestants and compete for a top prize of $50,000.

The Dayton-based team performed well, surviving six episodes that whittled the field of competitors from nine teams to three, before they bowed out July 21. Each week, while traveling around Florida and setting up shop in various cities, the team that had the lowest sales was eliminated.

“You guys have this hustle and this spirit — you guys are professional through and through,” the show’s host, Tyler Florence, told the Dayton-based team after delivering the news of their elimination. “It’s been a pleasure rolling this far with you.”

Warped Wing will be closed to the public for the Oct. 7 event, and tickets are required. Doors open at 5 p.m. and food will be served starting at about 6 p.m.

All tickets sales are final, the Facebook events page says.

The Yellow Cab Food Truck Rally will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 18 at 700 E. Fourth St.
