This new Dayton bakery is aiming for a fall open date

St. Anne the Tart, a new bakery and coffee house located at 1509 E. Fifth St., plans to be open by fall, according to their Facebook page.

In January, owner and Columbus native Megan Smith, told this news organization she had operated a bakery in Lexington, Ky before moving to the Dayton area two years ago.

She fell in love with the St. Anne's Hill neighborhood and wanted to be a part of positive changes there. She also owns the neighboring property at 1511 E. Fifth St. but wasn't sure what she would do with the space at that time.

The bakery, which will be in the birthplace of the longest-established, continually operating restaurant family in the Miami Valley, will feature breakfast and lunch menus, and will be open until late afternoon, and available for special events in the evenings. Pastries inspired from her travels to other continents will be featured. The menu will focus on "comfort baked goods," but will include healthy options as well.
