Tipp City bank robbery suspect identified

Police believe they've identified the man who robbed a Miami County bank last month and are looking for help in tracking him down.

Carl F. Kieffer, 49, robbed the New Carlisle Federal Savings Bank in Tipp City on Sept. 13, according to investigators.

Kieffer, whose last known address is in Spokane, Washington, was identified following a joint effort from the Tipp City Police Department, the FBI and law enforcement agencies in Illinois and Michigan.

He is considered dangerous and his current location is unknown although according to investigators he was in the "eastern third of the country" as recently as Monday.

Police say Kieffer used a light colored blue or green Dodge Durango to flee the robbery but could be driving a different vehicle now. He's described as a tall, thin man with a prominent mole on his left cheek near his nose.
