Wright-Patt alarm causing traffic issues on base

All gates in and out of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base were temporarily closed this afternoon after an alarm at a building on the military installation sounded.

An alarm signaling that there was intruder in a building went off around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon. But, there was no intruder, said base spokesman Daryl Mayer.

As is protocol, the base closed off its gates after the alarm sounded. The gate closure caused a traffic backup at some gates and at one a traffic accident occurred, Mayer said.

The incident had been resolved and the gates were back open before 5 p.m.
