Troy Strawberry Festival: Flash mob-style dance highlights hospital rivalry

It had the appearance of a flash mob dance: about 100 employees of Upper Valley Medical Center dancing Saturday on West Main Street at Prouty Plaza at the Strawberry Festival.

This comes 17 days before Kettering Health Network is about to open its $70 million Troy hospital.

A flash mob is an organized routine of a group of performers working together on a large scale to surprise and amuse the general public for a temporary period of time with a spontaneous performance.

Tom Parker, president of Upper Valley Medical Center said, “what we are doing is letting the community know we are here, and have been here, and we are your health care provider of choice. Couldn’t be happier to be supporting the Strawberry Festival.”

KHN is holding a sneak peek inside the new hospital during the Strawberry Festival.
