Environmental awards presented in Warren County

The Warren County Solid Waste Management District recently presented five organizations with the Go Green Warren County award. Organizations were selected based on their efforts to recycle, reduce trash and participate in earth-friendly activities.

This year’s recipients — Kings School District, Warren Correctional Institution, Green Bay Packaging, Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America, and Top Gun Sales Performance — were presented with a certificate at a recognition breakfast held on Oct. 16.

LEBANON

Musical to be performed at junior high school

Lebanon Junior High School Drama Club will present “The Music Man Jr.,” a youth version of the tale of a charismatic con man captivating an entertainment-starved Iowa town at the turn of the 20th century.

Performances are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 20, and Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Lebanon Junior High School auditorium, 160 Miller Road.

Tickets are $10, or $8 for students and seniors.

Columbia Road closure Monday

Columbia Road will be closed on Monday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The closure is for a culvert replacement project that is located between Davis Road and Dogwood Court.

The detour for the closure will utilize U.S. 22/Ohio 3 and Fields-Ertel Road.

Veteran’s Day breakfast at Career Center on Nov. 11

The Warren County Career Center is holding its annual Veteran’s Day Breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 8:30 a.m. in the school Commons, 3525 Ohio 48.

All area veterans are invited to attend. Breakfast will be prepared and served by WCCC culinary arts students.

Warren County Veterans Services will have its mobile Outreach Coach at the event. Veterans are encouraged to stop by to learn about the services offered the agency, and can bring their discharge papers to get a free Veterans ID card.

Volunteers needed to serve on citizen committees

City Council is seeking residents willing to volunteer their time and serve on citizen committees. Council will make appointments to the following committees in January for terms beginning in 2016:

  • Architectural Review Board
  • Audit Committee
  • Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee
  • Board of Review (Tax Appeals)
  • Park Board
  • Tree Authority

Applicants must be Springboro residents and registered voters.

Committees typically meet once a month.
