School board seeks resident voices on next superintendent

The Board of Education for Springboro Community City Schools will launch the search for the district’s next superintendent with a community meeting from 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 2, at Springboro High School, 1675 S. Main St., Springboro.

All residents of the district are invited to provide feedback that will be used in the Board’s review of candidates. The meeting will include small and large group discussions as well as the opportunity to leave written feedback for the school board to consider.

Todd Petrey, Superintendent of Springboro Schools since 2012, is resigning effective Aug. 31, 2016. The superintendent’s position is posted with information about the community meeting on www.Springboro.org. STAFF REPORT

LEBANON

Plans set for 26th annual garden tour

The 26th annual Garden Tour in Historic Lebanon will be held 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26, rain or shine, at The Lebanon Station, 198 S. Broadway in Lebanon.

The tour is self-guided. Maps and directions are given on the days of the tour.

Advance tickets are $10 and available at William & Mary Antiques and Jewelry Shop and The Village Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant in downtown Lebanon and at local nurseries and garden shops. Tickets/maps can be purchased on tour days at the Lebanon Station for $15 for adults; children under 12 are free.

The tour features five private gardens and the herb garden at the Lebanon Station, 50 varieties of Hosta, raised vegetable gardens, garden art, children’s garden room and tree house, memorial garden, a formal circular entrance garden, organic 1832 historic farm raising belted Galloway cows, chickens, pigs, and bees; fruit orchard, waterfalls, koi, fishing and canoeing ponds, gazebos, horse pastures and pawpaw tree.

Lebanon

Bunnel Road detour begins June 6

Bunnel Road will be closed at the intersection of U.S. 42 for culvert replacement beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, June 6 until approximately 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8. U.S. 42 will remain open.

Bunnel Road traffic will be detoured using SR 741 and U.S. 42.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zone and road closure.
