The company will prepare, prime and paint the four corner domes from the uppermost point to the water edge of the structures.
The domes will be power washed with water only.
The work was needed because of chalking and flaking and loss of UV protection included in previous work done in 1998, Chris Johnson, county operations and facilities director, told the county commissioners in August.
The contract was approved earlier this year, but the project was delayed by the contractor to ensure the proper conditions for the painting, he said. The corner domes are steel, and the contractor wanted to monitor temperatures to ensure there is proper bonding of the paint to that material, he said.
The commissioners’ office said the process includes application of a white primer, leaving the domes white for a few days while the final paint is applied. The final paint will match the color of the center dome painted in 2015.
