A deadline came and went early Saturday morning, and both stations went dark on Dish Network.
Dish Network leaders say it is unfortunate that Lin Media pulled its channels down and did not make an effort to keep negotiating in the final hours of the old agreement. Dish Senior Vice President of Programming Dave Shull says Lin Media refused to grant a contract extension proposed by the satellite company. He adds that the company then demanded over a 175% rate increase for the first year.
Lin says it has “worked tirelessly” to reach a new agreement with Dish. Lin says Dish Network removed the signals over its objection.
The Federal Communications Commission met last week to look at changes to the retransmission consent process between broadcasters and pay-TV operators.
