Woman dies after 8-story fall at hospital

WEST CHESTER TWP. — Police said they are investigating an apparent suicide after a woman fell to her death off West Chester Hospital Friday afternoon.

West Chester Twp. police responded at approximately 3 p.m. Friday to the hospital for a fatality, said Lt. Matt Beiser. A woman fell off the top of the eight-story building and landed in front of the hospital, Beiser said. He said police believe it was intentional.

The woman, who identity has not been released, died in the emergency room.

“This appears to be a single person and no signs of any foul play,” he said.

The event didn’t alter the care of any patients, said Dr. Kevin Joseph, president and chief executive officer of West Chester Hospital.

The woman was not a hospital employee and officials don’t have any reason at this time to believe she was a patient, Joseph said.
