Karen D. Fontenot was arrested and booked into Auglaize County Jail after the victim, 56-year-old Joe L. Hunter, was found with a stab wound to the chest on Williams Street, St. Marys Police said.

“We believe that this incident all started out of an argument,” said St. Marys Police Chief Jacob Sutton.  “Our guys are still trying to get a clear picture of what happened.”

Hunter was transported to the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, where he later died from his injury.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Williams around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Brent Dawson lives in the neighborhood and said he saw the flashing police and fire lights last night.

“After that it was chaos. They put crime tape up around the place,” Dawson said.  “Things happen all around. The world’s crazy today.”

Fontenot is scheduled for her arraignment in Auglaize County Municipal Court this afternoon, according to court officials.
