Under the plea agreement – which Judge Michael Buckwalter need not follow during sentencing June 7 – Donahue would get out of prison via judicial release after one year provided she’s paid $10,000 in restitution by that date. The remaining three years of the four-year prison sentence would then revert to community control.
“She’s taken responsibility for her actions,” said Donahue’s attorney, Mark Babb. “She deeply regrets those that were harmed by her, and she’s going to do whatever she has to do to make sure they get paid back.”
The prosecutor said Donahue likely won’t pay back much more than a small fraction of the $403,110 that police say she took between Feb. 1, 2007, and July 31, 2010, from the vision center at 4235 Indian Ripple Road.
“Realistically, over the probationary period, the amount of money that was stolen is probably not going to be paid during a four-year period, and the victim understands that,” said Greene County Chief Trial Counsel Jeffrey Hunter. “I should say that the victim in this case has been, frankly, very compassionate.”
Donahue said in court she’s been diagnosed with depression.
