UPDATE @7:33 a.m: Fire officials said a fire at the Englewood Indoor Soccer Complex was burning two to three hours early Tuesday morning before crews were dispatched to the scene.

Englewood Fire Chief Bud Bergman said it’s unknown what caused the fire, but suspect lightning from the storm that passed through the night may be to blame.

The building was fully involved when crews arrived around 6 a.m. and caused an estimated $1 million in damages, Bergman said.

Investigators will look at a neighbor’s surveillance camera to see if they will give insight into what started the blaze.

Nearby residents heard a loud “boom” which they thought was from an explosion inside the building, Bergman said, but the sound was likely from a tank that burst.

Mutual aid was received from Clayton, Union, and Brookville.
