Xenia changing utility service requirements

The City of Xenia Utility Billing Division is changing the way property owners and new tenants get new utility service.

Effective July 1, they will no longer have to appear in person at the Utility Billing office with proof of property ownership or a lease and a photo ID to obtain utility service. Instead, applications can be submitted electronically, using a secure electronic submittal process explained on the department’s Web page at www.ci.xenia.oh.us.

Since tenants will no longer be required to appear at the Utility Billing Division to prove their identities, the new process requires the property owner to complete all applications for new service whether the service will be in the property owners name or a tenant’s name.

This change does not impact any customers with existing service and only applies to customers requesting new service on or after July 1.

The new application for service forms and a new resident packet that provides useful information about the Xenia Accounts Receivable Division are available on the Utility Division Web page and questions should be directed to utb@ci.xenia.oh.us or (937) 376-7242. DIANA BLOWERS, CONTRIBUTING WRITER
