“From day one when I envisioned the company, I wanted to be known for our cutting-edge designs and landscapes,” Yancey said.
With 17 years in the landscape business, he decided to form his own firm which would focus on high-quality outdoor entertaining projects.
With autumn comes the season for installing new plants and trees. It also is a perfect time to consider hardscapes, which may include outdoor kitchens, concrete or stone walkways, retaining walls, Yancey said. All Yanton’s hardscape projects carry a three-year warranty.
A few of Yancey’s projects have included the wedding setting at Gilbert’s Party Barn, a project with Gardens Galore at Homearama South, and an outdoor kitchen and landscaping at Homearama North.
The company has shifted its use of materials to favor eco-friendly landscaping supplies, Yancey said. Yanton’s employees will discuss the use of boulders, limestone and natural rock material instead of concrete. Yancey offers tips on plant placement to help with building heating and cooling, on using natural and organic fertilizers and reuse and recycling of natural materials at the work site. The shift was made “not only because we see the need, but because we want to help,” customers be aware of more environmentally-friendly options, he added.
Yanton’s Outdoor Living offers an array of other services, including landscape design and maintenance. decks, fencing, lighting, gazebos putting greens and water features. Once fall planting and maintenance move out of season, Yancey and his six employees shift the company focus to winter tasks, specifically snow removal.
